Dining Out: Pizza: Genova

This delicious looking pizza pie is from a place called Genova Pizzeria in Canton, MI.  They are very good about cross contamination (topping/cheese/sauce/crust/tools separate area).

The base price is $8.50 for a cheese pizza. (again the size of a small pizza).

The great thing about this place is you can get any pizza for an upcharge of $1.50 for gluten free pizza. So this pretty pizza is considered one of their specialty pies which are all $10. So for a 5 item GF pizza it is $11.50.

Now the verdict!

This is the best GF pizza I have had yet! The cheese was amazing, the toppings plentiful, the crust and cheese baked to perfection.

They bake the pizza in a wood fire oven.

Ah-Mazing! If you are in the Canton, MI area go... NOW!

10/10!

Dining Out: Pizza: Cottage Inn

This is a Gluten free pizza from Cottage Inn with mushrooms. Cottage Inn pizza costs $9.99 plus around a dollar per topping. The pizza is pretty tasty, I like the cheese, the sauce is pretty good too. Not my favorite GF pizza, but when you are craving pizza this is a good option. This is about the size of a small pizza. It is shareable if you have a salad or something else to share with someone else, otherwise you both would leave hungry.

The "crust" or lack of is usually crunchy, so my dogs usually get that part. Otherwise the flavor is good. The crust is a bit floppy. I have yet to find a take out pizza that isn't floppy.

I give this a 7/10.

It tastes good cold as a bonus!

Annie's Gluten Free Rice White Cheddar Mac & Cheese

Let me start by saying who doesn't love Mac and Cheese? My father in law makes this decadent mac and cheese where he hand shreds at least four types of cheese, adds in tons of butter and half cooks the penne pasta (I know not macaroni, but it works) and then bakes it for an hour and a half.) It is amazing, and instantly puts the consumer in a food coma.

This pasta is not that pasta, but compared to Kraft's macaroni and cheese which would be a Pinto of the car world, Annie's GF White Cheddar Mac and cheese is a BMW.

The texture isn't too strange, the flavor is great! I give it a 7.5/10. I may have to change this rating if I make it with real milk. I used vanilla almond milk (It was all I had!).

Pillsbury Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Today I am reviewing the Pillsbury Gluten Free (GF) Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Let me start by saying I have not tried any GF cookies before this brand.

So what I will say is that right before starting GF I had just eaten a really delicious hot gooey chocolate chip cookie which are my favorite type. I don't like when cookies are hard, and not melty.

With that being said.....

These cookies are moist, chewy, gooey, and all around awesome!

I am not sure if the cookie's harden fast because I ate them too quickly!

They fall apart easier then a "typical" cookie, but again this can be remedied if you actually let them cool. The final batch I made I was full so they were able to cool, and then they held up well.

With that being said I give these cookies a 10/10!

I bought these from Meijer's and they were less then $3.00 and made 24 cookies the size of plum/peach.

Why did I start this?

Who am I? Why did I make this?

Hi! I'm Amber! I am 28 years old (for 11 more days!) and 30 days ago I decided to go Gluten-Free for 30 days to see if it helped my auto immune blood clotting disorder.

Well it did! Within a few days eliminating gluten the pain in my hands started to recede, within a week 70% of the pain was gone at least 50% of the time. Within 30 days I had days where my hands hurt 0% for 90% of the day! (Mornings are still rough, and I have noticed that on days where gluten gets in (accidentally) my hands revert back to their precursor pain level for at least a day.

So what snuck in that I didn't realize had gluten?

I got BBQ pulled pork from my favorite restaurant on a gluten free bun, turns out they use soy sauce in their meat, and BBQ sauce.

Contamination with french fries. The first time I got Wendy's fries I guess the oil was new because I had no pain, when I got them again at a different Wendy's it caused horrible pain in my hands.

Why did I make this site?

I am one of those people that will shout from the roof top if I love/hate something. Often at grocery stores random people will ask my opinion about food/products that I choose/am debating about. So I figured that the same could apply to random people online, but they don't need to find me in a store. I have brand loyalty, but am not afraid to try new things! Actually I love to try new food and new restaurants. I get bored of things pretty easily, so I am often trying new things. Even my favorite foods make me bored so I try new things. Part of why this new chapter of my life is so exciting!
